The city of Worcester, commonly known as just Worcester is situated some 17 miles southwest of Birmingham and has a population of 100,000.The River Severn runs through the middle of the city, overlooked by the 12th century Worcester Cathedral. The site of the final battle of the civil war, Worcester was where Oliver Cromwell’s new model army defeated King Charles 11’s Cavaliers, cementing the English Interregnum – the 11 year period during which England became a republic.

Worcester was the home of Royal Worcester Porcelain and for much of his life, the composer Sir Edward Elgar. It houses the Lea & Perrins factory where the traditional Worcestershire Sauce is made and is home to one of the fastest growing Universities – the University of Worcester

Worcester is very much a cultural town, home to the Three Choirs Festival, which dates back to the 18th century and is one of the oldest festivals in Europe. The Three counties being Gloucester, Hereford and Worcester – famous for championing English music by Elgar, Vaughan Williams and Gustav Holst.

As a sporting town, Worcester Warriors fly the flag at Six Ways Stadium, Whilst Worcester CCC find their roots at New Road.
