Well Sunday turned into a beautiful day and what better excuse to get the cameras out than for a wedding at the Council House Banqueting Suite in central Birmingham, for the wedding of Gemma and Jemal.
Having visited this venue many times and indeed actually start my Urban Night Shoot training courses from outside the venue, it was great to finally get the change to shoot a wedding there. From its fantastic entrance hall, sweeping staircase and the beautiful banquet room, with amazing ceilings, its every wedding photographers dream.
From the moment the Bride pulled up outside in her horse and carriage, you just knew this was going to be a wonderful day, and it was.
A lovely service was then followed a horse and carriage ride round Birmingham for the Bride, Groom and their 3 young boys ( all dressed up in their page boy outfits ) – what a treat. I could hardly get a look in with my camera – had to fight my way through every tourist with a camera phone lol.
Back inside for the speeches and some great shooting opportunities on the stairs and in the aptly named “Glass Corridor” – a room apparently build and paid for by the council men to provide a passage for their ladies from the main building to save them having to go outside. The room looked like a throwback to the Victorian age and we did have some fun, especially with the rather large plants…….that were prone to falling over !!!
Onto the evening – a real treat with the Ice Trikes 1920’s ice cream man……I would say the kids loved it, but i’m not sure they got a look in for the adults.
Evening rounded off with some lovely outdoor shots…..not that I haven’t shot that building hundreds of times before at night…….but I always like to capture it how it actually was on the day. This time shot standing in the fountain……..as for some reason it had been emptied.
Congratulations Gemma and Jemal – here’s wishing you all the best for the future
