Wedding Photography – A year in the life 2017 *2
Part 2 in our story of 2017, as we look back at what a photographers life actually looks like in a calendar year.
This time of the year is fortunately quite quiet on the shooting front and January is always our quietest month of the year.
Having recovered from the first wedding on the 7th, we’re now back into that editing period again and ore importantly starting the consultations for the upcoming weddings.
This week in 2017 we did 4 consultation for Feb and March, always good to get them in early so we can start our own pre wedding planning process.
People often ask us what does the consultation process look like and when should we do it.
Typically we do consultation in the studio about 4 weeks before the wedding and follow a pretty typical script.
The main thing initially is to make sure we have all the logistical information correct, so bringing with you venue details, timings etc is extremely helpful. We need to understand what windows we have on the day for photo’s, so understanding the timings is really critical.
This is even more the case in this winter season, with light diminishing so quickly – generally after 4:00, we really can be up against it when it comes to getting the photos you require.
Next we will build a picture of your wedding party on the day, Bridesmaid, family members etc. Its really important we have this information so that we can build the picture up and know who the important people are on the day to capture. Please also be prepared to share any family “issues” that we should be aware of. Awkwardness on the wedding day can be avoided if we know in advance that certain family members don’t speak to others.
Finaly we will do a walk through of the day and cover off what we shoot at various times. This will normally be dovetailed with looking through the albums in the studio so we can get a fell for what you do and don’t like from a photography point of view.
