Wedding Photography Birmingham
This time last year, part of the team was in Birmingham for the wedding of Pippa and Mark.
The Hyatt Hotel on Broad Street is such a majestic venue and whilst we’ve been there many times for functions, it was the first time we’d been there on a wedding day
The venue itself is such a splendid structure, its a shame in a way there isn’t that many clear opportunities to shoot outside with the building behind, just because of the heavy foot flow and traffic around. ( and not forgetting the mountain of building work going on in that area….still )
We had hoped to be able to go down onto the canals, as with the canal basin walking distance from there, that in itself would provide a beautiful backdrop to the photos. This is an area we know well, using it on a regular basis as part of the training course we run on urban night photography. If you think its stunning in the day you should see it at night.
Alas, on this occasion going outside anywhere was not going to happen. A cold, windy and very wet day drove a situation where everything resorted to far more natural photos in and around the main function room of the hotel on the staircases. Fortunately its extremely light in there because of the glass design of the building.
We talked a few weeks ago about photographers and equipment……….this day was another one of those where just as the bride is about to enter for the service the len’s zoom snaps and we are forced into quickly grapping the backup kit out of the bag. As expensive and reliable as the kit is, this can happen and this is why we carry such an extensive set of spares for everything.
Still a great day and nobody is any the wiser
We wish Pippa and Mark well for their first anniversary tomorrow. All the very best and many congratulations to you
